Signal Dispersion is now being trained.   Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:10:03

I added the skill Signal Dispersion to my list of skills this morning.  At +5% on each level, I will be training it to III to give me a +15% bonus to the strength of my ECM jammers fitted to the scorpion.

Those Sleeper Drones better watch out, I'm coming to jam you and it's going to be messy!

What a difference a day makes   Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 13:30:19
Well. If you read my first entry then you would know that my intention with this Blog was to tell you all about my corporations attempt at basing ourselves permanently in W-Space. Well, as the title suggests, a lot has happened in the last 24 hours. Primarily my CEO has decided to call an end to her days in space. She has retired and I hear that she has found a nice place in the sun somewhere on one of the planets in Vellanie. She doesn't want to give the exact details as an ex-CEO, in a capsule or not, might still be a target on some powerful people’s lists. Anyway, best of luck to her. Now here comes the interesting part, in a shock move (well I didn’t see it coming) she has appointed me the new CEO. I currently feel a little like a character I once saw on an ancient holoreel (marked only as Coen/Hudsucker) called Norville Barnes who makes the leap from mailroom clerk to CEO of a company in one leap. My leap is not quite so large but there are just fewer than 50 employees in this corporation from top to bottom and I certainly didn’t consider myself anywhere near to be the most senior person, below the CEO. I will however do my best to make my corp a success. Wormhole plans are still on and I’m sure I will have stories to tell our escapades as well as my attempts to stand at the helm, not just of my own ship now, but also my corporation. Days.

New Beginings   Monday, June 8, 2009 at 14:39:41
Ok, well here goes.I have never written a blog before, mainly because I didn’t feel the need to inflict my day to day monotony on anyone else.By monotony I am referring to the usual grind of mining from belt to belt, selling ore to the highest bidder and running the occasional mission for those ungrateful people over at InterBus. So why start now?Well, my corporation has just decided to make an uncharacteristically ballsy move and set up a base of operations in wormhole space (W-space).This all happened a few days ago and since then I have easily spent more time inside wormhole space than in normal space (or K-space as it is known those supposedly in the know). This jaunt into W-space was originally a joint venture between my corporation and another corp whose CEO is an old pal of my CEO, but once we had decided which area of W-space we was going to move into, and had started setting up, we discovered that there was already a POS owned by a small corp in the system. We made contact with the CEO of that corp as soon as we were able and luckily he was fine with us moving in and the 3 corps have been working well together since.Anyway, I don’t have time to go into any specifics of what we have been up to right now. There is scanning to be done and hangers that need sweeping.More updates to follow soon.Days

Projects Projects BLAH!!!!   Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 14:17:30

So The projects thing worked out........Sorta

built a Few charons and a Few Orcas and Battleships , but like the little red hen, I wound up doing 90 percent of the digging and 100 percent of the donations.  But Most of the guys Wanted to get paid for their ore AND get a share of the SHip sales , when I told them that is not how it works , there ws a mass threat to leave...............

So for a while there  I was free of the noise since all the malcontents left, and half of them have since reapplied.  All in all the projects thing works for a guague on who is willing to stay and get involved in other parts of EVE and Who only wants to PEW PEW.    Now It seems there is a good groups of people flying around with me.  Funny bunch they are to boot.  its exciting playing a game as a community instead of solo gang mining with multiple accounts.   also this lot seem to like isk and are willing to do what is needed to get it flowing.   Think I will make some more rewards and advertise some jobs in the corp, see who bites (especially since they will be salaried jobs)

Well the Pew Pew Junkies Have thier wish , two of my pilots have left to make a "less MIND NUMBING"  experience and start a PVP corp and petition an alliance.

I tell ya somedays this game is too much like real life, but not so much I get bored of it  HA!.

see ya in space....

The begining of Trading   Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 02:53:33

I've been a pirate since my second month playing eve-online. I've never traded to make isk, I've always either had a mission alt or bought isk via the Chinese. I thought since I'm getting fairly tired of pirating everyday due to the blob issue I would try something new and possibly very tough. I've heard many stories of people making a few billion isk to only loose it on a bad market plunge.

A little personal information: I didn't finnish college, but I've worked my way up the corporate latter and have become a General Manager of a large construction supply company. I've never delt much in economics, but I do know how to sell and buy to make a profit.

I will start Ferod Lai with 50 Million ISK, and try a few things out to get the hang of it first. This initial step isn't about making money but about getting used to how the market works.

Starting up a little T2 Caldari frigate business   Friday, May 15, 2009 at 15:34:48

Well, I settled down in Aharalel with some old FIX buddies and joined Libera Alliance.

Time for a bit of carebearing to restock money and ships. So i decided to get back into invention. I bought some frigate BPOS and researched them up a bit. Now i am able to make some Caldari T2 frigates. I also bought Comorant and Blackbird BPOs for those T2 ships as well.

Turns out the profits from the ships arent that great though, so I am supplementing my income with lvl 4 missions. It is nice to be able to supply the alliance and friends with ships at a decent rate though.

Next step is to start manufacturing my own t2 components to build the ships with. I have the BPOs and am researching 40/40 ME/PE on all of them in preparation.

Still no portrait :(   Friday, May 15, 2009 at 12:58:27

On 16th March,

i asked in a blog entry, why i can´t see my portrait. I got two answers. Both told me that i have to wait up to 8 weeks until the portrait will be shown.

Now, more than 10 weeks after registrating in 'inEVE' i still dont see my portrait.

Anyone her, who could explain this frustrating situation? And what i have to do, to change this?

Thx a lot

Still recovering mentally from my first ship loss   Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 05:32:35

I made a newbie mistake the other night. I had my autopilot set to take me through dangerous sectors while I was flying around in a shuttle. Being new, I didn't yet grasp the concept that implants I have in my head are specific to my current body or clone and if I die, they get destroyed. My corp had set me up with 60mil ISK worth of implants when I joined and sure enough, I lost the, along with my Vexor (also given to me by my corp), and a cargo hold full of minerals worth a few million as well as some skill books valued at over 2-3 million. Sigh.

Since it was my boneheaded move, I haven't asked for assistance in replacing the lost items, ships or implants. I have spent about 10mil ISK so far refitting my new Vexor and haven't even begun buying the implants yet because those cost 10-15mil each. Yikes.

So I'm running agent missions and making between virtually nothing and 10mil a night. When I get missions where I can salvage a bunch of wrecks, I usually make 6-7mil. Lately I've been getting crappy courier missions over and over again. But I'm hanging in there. Hopefully the missions will increase in difficulty soon as my standing with the agent improves.

I am a part of the Caldari State.   Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 16:21:00
My life. Divided upon the basis of libertarianism or nationalism. I was born into the State, yet I feel as if my thoughts are Gallantean in nature. Nonetheless, I am a part of the Caldari State.

My corporation will succeed, it will. I have dignity. I have honor. I have the State.

My First Piratical Loss, Kill, and Ransom   Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 06:45:39

Well! Tonight was an exciting night! I had my first piratical kill and loss within the space of an hour.

I logged on in a high sec system, put together another Kestrel, and headed out to the hunting grounds. My first few hours were uneventful; I spent a lot of time near HQ, working on using my scanner and scanning people down, but I never found a target that I felt that I could engage. The time wasn't lost; I created quite a few useful bookmarks near asteroid belts and gates, allowing me to use a short range on my directional scanner to see who is nearby without giving myself away.

Later on, a few of my corp mates entered the system with me. Nothing was really happening, just putzing around I suppose, until someone was aggressed by Nvega in a Retribution. We played cat and mouse with him for a while; we would scan him down, warp in, and arrive only to see him warp off in another direction. He was sneakey and, ultimately, quite deadly!

I was the first casualty.  I warped in about 50km off, kicked the afterburner on, and approached. I figured that I would die quickly - my shields didn't have any EM resistance at all, and the Retribution's firepower is quite respectable. I closed in, and as he started to fire on me I slapped a warp scrambler on him and prayed that I would be able to keep him in place long enough for the rest of my corp mates to warp in.

Well, things didn't go quite as I had hoped. I exploded and he made a clean getaway, likely laughing at the silly Kestrel attempting to engage. Six minutes later he managed to pop a Taranis, too - yikes!

Boys and girls, don't engage a Retribution at close range when all you have is a 0% EM resist shield buffer (but you probably knew that).

I was amused and a little disheartened, but I wouldn't be a better pirate if I didn't keep trying! I quickly hopped back to HQ and grabbed my pride and joy, the ship I couldn't afford to lose, my beautiful, shiny, loving Raptor, 'Mostly Harmless'. I swore that if I was on the same grid as him again, I would scram his butt and hold him there and make his death long, slow, and painful!

The next 20 minutes or so was spent playing more cat and mouse with him, and eventually he simply left the system. Good Fight, Nvega! I was, once again, schooled.

Luckily, a new target presented itself - Derzis in a Brutix, who had been sold just a few days ago.

Our brave and talented fleet commander didn't take long to scan him down; he was sitting in a belt and before too long Derzis was engaged. Our fleet warped in and, seconds later, I was orbiting him at a steady 4.2km/s with a disruptor pointed right at his warp drives. Awesome! I was finally doing something other than dying!

And then I saw something horrible fly out of the Brutix: Drones! And they were aggressing me! Ack! However, I wasn't horrified for very long. Hammerhead IIs are far too slow to catch up with me, and so I started to target them and take them out with impunity. As long as he didn't have any Warrior IIs in there, I figure that I would be fine.

And I was! At least until I heard over the voice comms that three zealots were warping in. A decision was quickly made to disengage; our fleet wasn't particularly big or powerful, mostly small ships, and three zealots would make short work of us. I didn't feel like losing the ship I can't afford to lose, after all!

I warped to my safe spot near the belt and spammed my directional scanner, using a short range so that I would only pick up things inside of the belt itself. No zealots. Expanding my search, I was able to find them. It was a false alarm, the zealots were elsewhere and were not coming to the aid of Derzis. I was disappointed - I figured that by now Derzis would have pulled in his drones and warped out of system or, at the vey least, to a safe spot.

But he didn't. He was probably encouraged that our small gang had engaged him and then, quite suddenly, disengaged. I could see him pounding his chest in victory, laughing at us, and perhaps ordering a beer to celebrate his victory. He had just fought off an entire gang single handed! He must be invincible! Derzis did seem to warp around to a planet or two, but he eventually returned to the asteroid belt.

Well - after reassuring ourselves that we weren't going to die from a zealot swarm, we decided to re-engage. Same routine - warp in, slap on the point, and engage. Once again, Derzis released his drones, and once again, theycame after me. Now that I knew what was in his drone bay, I didn't find him to be a threat at all. I circled, I smiled, and I launched missiles at his ship.

Before too long, his ship had popped and there, in all its glory, was his pod. A sparkling jewel that just screamed, "Tackle me!". And so we did. A minute later we were 30 million isk richer and, to top it off, there was some nice T2 loot in his wreck, too.

Awesome!

The ransom was split amongst fleet members, and I picked up the loot from his wreck. And then I made a big mistake. I had, once again, forgotten about the Global Criminal Countdown - especially since I was just an innocent bystander. I wasn't being a pirate, honest! I was just... You know... Engaging in Surprise Asset Reallocation!

I mentioned that I was going to warp to a station, contract the loot to fleet command, and log off for the night and someone mentioned, "You should wait for the GCC to go away!" I had already told me ship to warp by then, and my head was full of "Oh Crap!" I hit the 'Cancel Warp' as quickly as I could and, I swear, God was smiling down on me for my good work in Surprise Asset Reallocation. My Raptor came to a halt, I breathed a sigh of relief, and I thanked that helpful voice.

As I waited for that horrible timer to expire, I took a look at my security status. -0.21. Uh oh. I'm starting to slide down a long, slippery slope... but damn am I having fun doing it.

That was it for me for the night.

Lessons Learned:

  • Retributions Are Scary - Stay away from these if you're in a non-EM tanked frigate! Actually, it might be a good idea to stay away if you're in ANY kind of T1 frigate. They don't carry a point (usually), but the damage is so high that it may not matter.
  • Global Criminal Countdown - Again - Thankfully this time I just barely escaped a certain death.
  • Pirating is fun!

First Post, and Low Sec Isn't Null Sec!   Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 22:50:53

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here and certainly won't be my last. First, a bit of background on myself.

When I first joined Eve, I decided early on that I wanted to do EWar support. I spent some time getting familiar with the game and I trained my skills and, after about two months I left the protective embrace of Empire Space and, by myself, moved down to the null-sec area of Curse.

I didn't quite know what I was doing, but I was doing it. I started running missions for the Angel Cartel and before too long I had established myself in my own little area. The local critters, mostly Appetite 4 Destruction people, were my first real contacts down there but all they ever wanted to do was shoot me. That made me a bit sad, especially since they wouldn't reply to my inquiries about recruitment, but it did make mission running more exciting!

After a while, I stumbled across the corporation Angels of the Void. They were a self proclaimed null-sec mission running corp, with some aspirations of PvP work. Sounded good to me, since that is what I was already doing! So I joined up.

The next few months were disappointing. After my first few weeks in the corp, they all went AWOL. I didn't mind too much; I was blue to some people in an Alliance and I would sometimes fly with them on their operations. A shout out to Melinko 17 here - nice guy, he taught me a lot. After a while though, I decided that this wasn't what I was really after (especially my corp-mates never logging in!), and I decided to look elsewhere.

I have now ended up as a recruit with Blood Money Bootcamp, a pirate training organization. From high sec, to null sec, to low sec.

Today was my first day as a real, bona fide member. I was just getting comfortable, reading through the old corp and alliance mail, when a chat request from Kilted Warrior appeared on my screen. I accepted, since I wasn't doing anything particularly important anyways, and said hello. It turns out that this Kilted Warrior wanted to have a little duel!

Well! I was certainly intreagued, but I had just flown my one expensive ship (a T2 fitted Raptor) 44 jumps from Curse to BMB's HQ, and not only did that ship carry some sentimental value, I couldn't afford to replace it. So I had to turn him down, with the promise that I would be happy to go out and buy a Kestrel, bring it back, and engage in a little Pew Pew!

And so I did. When I was running L1 missions for the Angel Cartel down in null-sec, I used something like this:

[Kestrel, Mission Running]
Cross-linked Bolt Array I
Cross-linked Bolt Array I

1MN Afterburner I
Small Shield Extender I
Small Shield Extender I

'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Thorn Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Thorn Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Thorn Rocket
'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Thorn Rocket

[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]

It works very well for its intended purpose, running L1 missions. If I'm careful with my speed tanking, I can even clear The Blockade without warp-outs. However, for PvP, it lacks any kind of tackle. Not quite sure how I should fit a Kestrel for PvP, I turned to BattleClinic and found a fit with a medium shield extender and some tackle gear. I wasn't able to fit it all - I ended up sacrificing a Ballistic Control System for a Nanofiber, but this is what I ended up with:

[Kestrel, Medium Buffer]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Marked Modified SS Nanofiber Structure

J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Medium Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I

OE-5200 Rocket Launcher, Thorn Rocket
OE-5200 Rocket Launcher, Thorn Rocket
OE-5200 Rocket Launcher, Thorn Rocket
OE-5200 Rocket Launcher, Thorn Rocket

[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]

I had never actually flown a fit like that before, but what the hell. It's Space Pixels!

So, in my new, proud Kestrel, I flew back and told Kilted Warrior that I was indeed quite ready for that 1v1 he had asked for! The only rules of engagement was to stop when someone got down to hull. And so I flew to a planet and waited a moment, and he appeared. I quickly closed the distance, got a point on him, let loose on my missiles and started pounding him.

Kilted Warrior was in a Rifter - a rifter with a full T2 fit, and rigs. I knew I was going to lose, but the learning experience was worth it. However, it wasn't quite as close as I thought it would be!

I tried to get in close to get under the tracking of his autocannons. It didn't work well; he was hitting my shields and quickly taking away chunks of them at a time. Yikes! However, by the time he had eaten away 1/3 of my shields, he was already into armor. He was repairing, but not quickly enough to keep up with my rockets. It was going to be close!

And it was - when we ceased firing, I was at half hull and Kilted Warrior, in his rigged, T2 rifter, also had a nick of hull damage. You can imagine how elated I was to take on someone far more skilled than I and, not only put up a fight, but also almost win!

He told me that I did well, and after asking what I could do better, I was told that the range on my rockets is into the falloff of the autocannons, and that I should have tried to use that range to my advantage instead of getting close, since his tracking is so good.

And so I did something that was rather silly; I warped to the station I was using as a HQ and, before I knew it, I was in my pod! What on earth had happened? No other ships were on my overview!

Well, see, down in null-sec, I never had to deal with the station sentries. Here in low-sec, they had locked on my and deprived me of my ship. Ack! My beautiful, almost-killed-the-Kilted-Warrior Kestrel! Gone! Forever! Horrible!

This whole 'Global Criminal Countdown' is going to take some getting used to, I thought. Well, up to high sec to get another Kestrel...

...and boy was THAT a mistake! Good lord! As I started to warp around in my pod, the police were giving me stern warnings that they didn't quite like my type. I thought, yeah, yeah, whatever, I'm in my pod, you don't shoot people in their pods! And they didn't. But when I docked, got an Ibis, and bought a few things to take with me on my way to the pile of Kestrels that I had elsewhere... ...Poof! Those damn police got me!

Now I was getting a little annoyed. Honestly, what business do they have blowing up a perfectly good ship? Sure, I had just fought, but I was being good now! I didn't do anything! The fight was by consent! And then it dawned on me... I WAS FRAMED, FOR A CRIME I DIDN'T COMMIT!

Oh, the humanity!

Well, I thought, perhaps I just didn't quite warp away fast enough. So I docked, got another free ship, and undocked again and tried to warp away. And those police shot me AGAIN! Law and order indeed... More like an excuse to kill without reprecussions!

Well, after that, my dog decided that it was time to go water the bushes, and I thanked Kilted Warrior again for the fight and logged off.

What did we learn here today?

  • When fighting an AC Rifter, keep your distance.
  • Sentry guns at stations will shoot you in low-sec if you're criminally flagged.
  • The police are corrupt and they open fire on you, without a trial or anything!
  • Logistics are going to be a pain once my security status dips down too far.
  • Medium Shield Buffer Kestrel is awesome!
And that's it for me today. Thanks to Blood Money Inc. for accepting me into boot camp, and thanks to Kilted Warrior for being a truly nice guy, honoring his 1v1, and turning me into a better pilot.

Bad timing   Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 16:14:13

I have no idea what happend. The last night i try to farm misions. Then it happend. Never see it before. A wormhole This can not be happening. I try to get out warping.... Pang i was in a pot in about 5 sec? I use "Traveling/pvp/Default" Tracking interface. So i use traveling because i need to deliver some food :( . Next thing i know i was pop. Bad very bad. Lost me cormorant well no problem. I get out there with me pot and whant to revenge that basterd :(. However sinds the wormhole is there in that sector i stay away :). So i stop delivering anything i stop play agents and cheq the marketing with a cup of koffie :). Buy and resell the stuff is my sec hobby in eve. Great isk to if you know what you need :) me agent is more sec job i do more DED misions. Its easy but iam not alone to do this and some time the chamber its compleet mess out :( no farming for me. In the mean time iam still flying with me standerd npc corp :) and try to stay there for 5 mouths. Its a job :) if you work to many job the will stop inv you in a corp because 1 year play and 6 new corp join in that year ? you are not trusty thats for sure. Or you can not helping it. Well the skill plan i have its change no heavy t1 skip this or bether its on hold. Got new plan. I like the game so i will not stop play eve :) this mean i need to boost the learning skills first. First i do all level 1 learning skills. Then i use all Acc skills at maxs. After that i will do some busniss skills for the marketing. After that i contineu T1 heavy maxs dps. So this will take some time iam afread but i have no other way to do it. Need to think about the marketing skills FIRST. Before i do that.

Well thats all i think for now. I have make some nice screenshot to. Inc wormholl i think thats why i was kilt :) not pay attantion :(.

Time skilling without marketing : Feb 2010 the 13

Time With marketing : Jun 2010 The 21

So much to ransom, so little time....   Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 04:48:43
So today me and a corp mate were out hunting in Dal. after about 10 to 20 mins we locate a rifter.

my corp mate Kalreck warps in to confirm his location and upon arrival i am told to warp to his location. I warp in to find Kalreck already engaged and i join him. the fight was easy with just the basic tacticts of orbit at 500, scramble, web, and open fire.

upon taking his shields and armor down in seconds, we are now at his structure. keep in mind we have angels attacking us AND him. so we continue firing at his structure to finish the job...here is where things get funny...well funny to me and Kalreck at least. at 10% structure he sends the convo invite... he is at 10%... between latency and actually opening the convo, it was not enough time for me to cease fire AND tell Kalreck to cease with out blowing him up.

i ceased fire and opened convo, but like i said, not enough time and his ship popped. as his ship blows up he says cease fire he will pay ransom, obviously not noticing it is to late. as he notices what has just happened, he proceeds to call me a dipshit and immiedietly leave convo.

we get point on his pod and Kalreck opens convo for another attempt at ransom. at this point he says in local he was willing to do a ship ransom, but the pod ransom isnt worth it as he has no implants and "orders" us to pod kill him... we obliege and kill him...guess he has a new body to brake in now....

we then loot his wreck and wait for our cool downs to end... his loot sold for a little over 40k.... sigh... so the moral of the story is, 10% structure is not enough time to open a convo for  ransom when you have 2 pirates, a npc, and latency against you... and dont call someone a dipshit for your own mistake...

overall i found the whole thing funny and was glad to add another kill to the killboard :P

until next time, fly safe :)
